Villas in Lanzarote - Rentals in Yaiza/UGA Yaiza and Uga are two enchanting Canarian villages steeped in local tradition and culture. Both are more reminiscent more of North Africa than Spain, both for its architecture, brilliantly whitewashed houses and the surrounding vegetation. Uga in particular is famous for its fresh salmon. Yaiza is the principal village in the south of Lanzarote, and as such is responsible for the maintenance of the general area including Playa Blanca and El Golfo, and Timanfaya National Park. While in the village a visit to the 18th century church, whose tower rises over the main square is a must. Art lovers should go to the Galleria Yaiza which exhibits local paintings and ceramics, most of which are for sale. La Era restaurant is a 300 year-old farm, which has been beautifully transformed. The food is Canarian; the wine is made on the farm itself. El Campo restaurant down the road is a locals favourite, and has beautiful volcanic gardens, built into the volcano opposite.
